2017-18 Division 1 Schedule Released

Division 1 dates include exhibition games versus Oklahoma City.          

Aug. 8, 2017 – The Missouri State University Ice Bears, a Division 1 member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, announce that 20 of 39 regular season games on the 2017-18 schedule will be played at Mediacom Ice Park in Springfield.

Two home-and-home preseason games against the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Western States Hockey League are booked for Sept. 2 in Oklahoma City and Sept. 9 in Springfield.

The Ice Bears open its 17th season against Illinois State in Bloomington, Illinois on Sept. 15-16 and begin the first of an every-other-weekend road and home schedule during the 2017-18 campaign.

Missouri State’s home opener is the following weekend against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on September 22-23. Then the Ice Bears host the 2016 ACHA Division 1 national champion Lindenwood Lions on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Four of seven 3-game weekends will be played in Mediacom Ice Park. The first road series starts with Western Collegiate Hockey League games on Sept. 28 against the University of Central Oklahoma, who won the 2017 ACHA Division 1 national championship then Oklahoma University.  Three of the last four titleholders are from the WCHL.

The Oklahoma tilts start nine-straight WCHL league games which include contests against Colorado and Colorado State in Springfield. The Ice Bears travel to Arizona and the University of Arizona before returning home for non-league games Oct. 20-21 with Saint Louis University during the “Pink Ice” breast cancer awareness weekend.

Road contests versus the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Iowa State, Arkansas, Colorado and Colorado round out the second half of the season which features an additional lineup of 13 of 17 league games.

Other home games include the annual meeting with the University of Missouri on Dec. 8-9, Arkansas on Feb. 2-3, 2018 and McKendree University on Feb. 16-17, 2018.

The Ice Bears skated to a 16-25-1 OTL record finishing No. 27 out of 59 teams in its second year of Division 1 hockey. The top 20 teams are eligible for postseason play.
