Bears add Saunders from the EHL

SPRINGFIELD, MO – Walpole Express forward, Hunter Saunders, is the latest to commit to Missouri State for the 16-17 season. The Nashville, TN native has spent time with the Alexandria Blizzard (NA3HL), Philadelphia Little Flyers (MetJHL), and EHL for Walpole.

“I chose to commit to Missouri State because I like the direction the program is headed. Also, the team was very welcoming on my visit and it seemed to me that everyone took pride in being an Ice Bear.”

Saunders brings a relentless work ethic to the Bears who are looking to earn a trip to the ACHA Division I National Championship Tournament next season.

The 5’11 forward models his game after Viktor Arvidsson of the Nashville Predators (NHL). “His vision and love for the game is what I take notes on and what I try to bring (to my performance) on the ice.”

Saunders plans on studying health science at Missouri State to become a personal trainer or to one day help children with disabilities.

“I’m excited to have the best fans in the ACHA in my corner so I hope they notice my work ethic and drive to give them a win night in and night out. Plus I’m not afraid to mix it up for my teammates and what crowd doesn’t love that?”

Saunders hopes to become an impact player (especially on the PK) and win a WCHL conference title and make a deep run at the National Championship Tournament every season.

When he is not on the ice , Saunders enjoys being around friends and family, fishing, and hanging out in downtown Nashville, TN.
