SPRINGFIELD, MO â€“ Breezy Point North Stars defenseman, Patrik Johansson, is the latest to commit to Missouri State University for the 2016-2017 campaign.
The Sorunda, Sweden native says he chose Missouri State due to the great reputation of the hockey program around the NA3HL.
The 6â€™0, 200 lbs defenseman said he prides himself on being a stable shut-down defensemen and he gives his team his best every game.Â Breezy Point head coach Jeff Worlton agrees.
â€œAs a defenseman, he flies under the radar a lot. One thing with Pat, you get his best every night,â€ said Worlton.
Johansson said he models his game after Detroit Redwings blue liner, Niklas Kronwall. â€œI love that he can make plays and lay people out.â€
While playing at Breezy Point, Johansson recorded 9 points and 64 PIMs in 47 games during the 2015-2016 season. Johansson was also selected to Team West in the NA3HL Top Prospects Game.
â€œI want to be a dependable guy night in and night out. There is only one thing to my mind and thatâ€™s winning a National championship” Johansson said. “That’s why we play.â€
Johansson said he plans on studying business while in Springfield. â€œI chose to commit to Missouri State because it’s a great school and I think I will thrive both as a student and as an athlete.â€
When not on the ice or in the classroom, Johansson enjoys watching the English Premier Soccer League.
