SPRINGFIELD, MO — Craig Berry is the first to commit to the Bears for the 2016-2017 campaign. The 6’3 defenseman spent last season with the Jersey Shore Wildcats of the NA3EHL recording 10 points and +15 rating in 39 games.
“On the ice Craig has been great for us. He is great without the puck in our own zone, posting a +14 on the season and a big part of why we are 26-2 so far this season. He is the first D I put out there for the penalty kill. On top of this he is a big body who likes to play physical. He definitely does not shy away from the rough stuff. Possibly most importantly, he is a good honest player who has a high level of consistency. I know exactly what to expect from Craig day in and day out,” said Jersey Shore assistant coach, Cole Bell.
The Cedar Hill, Missouri native knew he wanted to wear the maroon and white when he stepped onto campus for the first time his freshman year of high school. Berry will be working towards his Bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in Criminology while in Springfield.
Berry considers himself a puck mover who excels in the transition game as well as controlling the area around his crease.
During his time at Missouri State, Berry wants to work hard in the classroom and on the ice, improve his individual skills, and win a ACHA Championship.
