Castlegar Capt’n, Wornig, completes ’16 Recruiting Class

SPRINGFIELD, MO – Castlegar Rebels captain, Carson Wornig, rounds out the 2016 recruiting class by committing to Missouri State for the 2016-2017 season. Wornig has been a staple in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) since his first season with the Rebels in 2013-2014. During his time in Castlegar, the shutdown defenseman recorded 11 goals, 34 assists and 210 PIMS in 163 games.

The White Rock, British Columbia native models his game after Jason Garrison of the Vancouver Canucks who also hails from White Rock. “I play a solid and gritty defensive roll. I like to make big hits and block a lot of shots,” said Wornig.

The 6’3, 190 lbs defenseman will definitely add to an already intimidating blue line on the Bears Division I roster.

Carson decided to commit to Missouri State because the prestigious construction management program that the university has to offer.

In his free time, Carson enjoys snowboarding, surfing, and spending time with friends.

Wornig is the 15th player to commit to Missouri State for the 2016 recruiting class. He is joined by Craig Berry (D), Carson Comar (F), Jordy Bratton (F), Brady Griffin (G), Brendan Shuck (G), Austin Davis (F), Chadd Lounder (F), Hunter Saunders (F), Patrik Johannson (D), Chris Brown (D), Jake Champaign (F), Brian Schumacher (D), and Sasha Perron (F).
