Summer mini-camp dates and times are now set. April 26, 2010
The Ice Bears' first mini-camp will be held at Webster Ice Arena in St. Louis on June 5th (10:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and (7:15-9:30 p.m.) The second camp will be held at Mediacom Ice Park in Springfield on July 24th (4:30-6:45 p.m.) and July 25th (9:45-12:00 a.m.) The fee to attend a single camp is $45 with a 7-day advanced registration/payment, or $55 at the door (acceptance cannot be guaranteed). The fee to attend both camps is $85 with a 7-day advanced registration/payment. Each participant will receive a free MSU hockey mini-camp t-shirt. To register, please click on the link below. Ice Bears General Manager Stan Melton's mother, Jean Sanders Melton, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 85. The entire Ice Bears organization extends its sympathies to Stan and his family. The JV Ice Bears beat the Robert Morris University (Peoria) Eagles 5-3 on Sunday to claim their first-ever MACHA Silver division tournament Championship. The team had defeated Robert Morris (Springfield) the day before to claim a spot in the final. Senior goalie Brian Andris was outstanding in the Championship game, facing 69 shots and earning Silver tournament MVP honors. The Varsity Ice Bears were looking to make it a Missouri State sweep with a win in the Gold division. The team got off to a great start with a 6-2 win over Illinois State on Saturday. Unfortunately the Ice Bears came up short in the final, losing 5-1 to the SIU-E Cougars. Congratulations to both Missouri State teams for their great runs in the MACHA, and a special congratulations to the JV Ice Bears on their Championship season. The Ice Bears closed out their regular season last weekend by splitting a pair of games against the upstart Arkansas Razorbacks. Friday's game was a heartbreaker, as the team squandered a 3-1 lead and then surrendered the winning goal with just seven seconds left in overtime. But the guys came out flying on Saturday night, determined to send their seniors off on a winning note. The Ice Bears scored two goals in the first two minutes and never looked back, shutting out the Hogs by a score of 9-0. The team also clinched second place in the MACHA Gold division and a first-round bye in next weekend's playoffs. The JV Ice Bears, who finished first in the Silver division South, played host to the Texas Longhorns last weekend. The team swept both games by scores of 12-3 and 11-6. Ice Bears sweep. The Ice Bears swept the Texas Tech Red Raiders last weekend at Mediacom Ice Park by scores of 3-1 and 4-1. But the biggest story of the weekend took place in Peoria, Illinois, where the JV Ice Bears swept the Bradley Braves. With the two wins, the team clinched first place in the South Division of the MACHA Silver conference and a first-round bye in the upcoming playoffs. Congratulations to the JV coaches and players on their regular season championship. The Varsity Ice Bears can finish as high as second in the MACHA Gold division, depending upon the results of this weekend's action. The Ice Bears will close out their regular season next weekend at home with a pair of non-league games against the University of Arkansas Razorbacks.
