 Ice Bears coaching staff. The 2007-2008 season is his sixth season as Head Coach.
During his tenure, Benjamin has led the Bears into ACHA Division II play and a regular contender in the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA). By creating a strong organization, the hockey program has developed enough depth to fi eld a competitive Junior Varsity squad. He is committed to developing professional
student-athletes and participating in community service activities, the Jr. Bears hockey program.
Benjamin began playing youth hockey when he was nine years old, while growing up in Webster Groves, Missouri. He was a member of the Affton (St. Louis) Jr. B hockey team, which competed in the 1984 Junior B National Championship Tournament. He pursued his hockey career at Iowa State University, playing for the Cyclones from 1984-1986 where he earned his Bachelors of Landscape Architecture degree.
In addition to his Ice Bears responsibilities, Benjamin is a USA Hockey Certified Coach and Registered Offi cial and participates in the adult hockey program at Jordan Valley Ice Park. He is also an assistant coach for the Arkansas Puck Hogs Pee Wee hockey team. Benjamin is also a member of the MACHA Board of Directors. Away from hockey, Benjamin is a consultant in disaster recovery, urban planning and design. His prior work includes project management of the development of Jordan Valley Park, including the Ice Park. He and his wife, Becky, have two children, Madeline and Payne. |
