Top Prospect, Schumacher, joins the Bears!

SPRINGFIELD, MO – St. Louis Jr Blues defenseman, Brian Schumacher, has decided to play his collegiate hockey at Missouri State after two seasons in the NA3HL.

While donning the Jr Note, Schumacher tallied 33 points and 78 PIMs in 78 games as well as 3 crucial points in the NA3HL playoffs last season.

The 5’8 defenseman was selected to Team Midwest in the 2016 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament. He models his game after PK Subban of the Nashville Predators mixed with Steve Ott of the Detroit Red Wings. “I can bring an offensive type to defenseman to the program with great ice awareness and speed! I feel like I can control and change the pace of a game when I need to. I would describe myself as more of a smart player rather than a big and physical one. I just try to outsmart my opponents for the most part, but I can play strong and physical also! I can also play chippy and get under opponents skin when I need to!”

Shumacher committed to Missouri State because of the great campus. Brian played for coach Bucher during his high school career at Seckman in St. Louis.

While at Missouri State, Shumacher plans on studying pre-law or architecture.

“I will bring a whatever it takes type of style to win. I want to bring a Division I National Championship to Springfield.”

When Brian is not in the classroom or on the ice, he enjoys playing paintball and training.
